some of them scared me to death aas a kid
ReplyDeleteI loved these things, in the early days of TV shows silents were the filler. Most of them were Keystone Kops shorts, I never got to see the good stuff, but there's a whole section devoted to them online, I found out. Heck everything is online these days...

ReplyDeleteNowadays those old nitrate or cellulose (at least thats what I think they were) film reels are not only fragile but tend to explode. Im glad someone is preserving them...

yep they are. A few of them made it into talkies, notably the Barrymores, Lon Chaney and Charlie Chaplin, but for the most part the voices just didnt make it.

ReplyDeletein making up the list I happened on the bio of Rudolph Valentino, for his day he was the Elvis of silent movies. Fascinating man
