After a month of typing with fingers crossed (no easy feat in any way) on a the laptop from hell, I now have my old beloved Win7 back with a new motherboard (which always sounds like a polite obscenity amonsgst computer techies) and the old familiar keyboard.
The laptop is lovely, but for a touch typist it's the keyboard from hell, since the keys are much more sensitive, and there is little space between them. All the "symbols" are so modern and artsy it's a guess what any of them mean.
Toby the Terrified is now consenting to eat in the same room where humans are, and I do believe I heard a massive purr from him the other day. Sometimes cats will make up their minds all at once about things, and it appears he has decided we aren't all that bad. It only took him 10 years or so, but then he's cautious. I think I finally understand why he's leery of Humans Holding Doors Open. At some point in his early life Im giuessing someone either accidentally or on purpose (humans being what they are) slammed a door shut just as he was going out or coming in. Ow.
They do forgive, I think more than dogs do, but they don't forget.
Overcast this morning, feels like rain, oh joy. Gotta go move some wood out of the way.

I'm always so happy to see you posting! Then I know you're all ticking over. More or less, anyway.
ReplyDeletelol, well, the ticking is often accompanied by strange augghhhh noises but that's part of the deal, after awhile.
DeleteThe [problem right now is that most of me is downstairs and this is upstairs. most of me will have to remember to check this, won't she.
I trust you are drying out, after that horrendous storm...
I'm doing almost everything on the notebook these days. I'm old mold, but I like to think I'm pretty, malleable, and flexible down to the boot. wait... what?
ReplyDeleteI simply cannot tolerate the keyboard on that thing. Im a touch typist and while I can bang away on a regular keyboard, that flat faced thing downstairs is a nightmare.
DeleteYou ain't old, darlin'. You just seasoned.
My husband has set this up so that some of me can work upstairs, and some of me can work downstairs. The trick is to remember which parts go where. Sort of like reconstructing that deck chair you took down last fall...
