DeleteElmer Fudd, etc, but X and Z were more than I wanted to deal with, lol.

ReplyDeleteLike so many others, when I was Verrrrrry young, I had trouble learning to clearly enunciate my Rs and my Ls, pronouncing them both as Ws.
ReplyDeleteThus, until I received some remediation and practice, when asked my name I responded, "Wonnie Wavawette."
There's an adult character on the TV show The Big Bang Theory who speaks this way, and I can only watch and remember, imagining what my life would be today if...
oh my. That does conjure up some interesting images.
DeleteWhen I was about 3 or 4 my folks decided to take on a foster child to keep me company, with an eye, I guess, to possibly adopting him. He would not have fared well, however, since he too had problems with speech, and simply could not pronounce hard "g" except as "d", and "k" and "ch" as "t". My dad had a blind spot for stutterers and the verbally impaired, and he thought this was hysterical.
Probably not the best way to overcome speech problems.
Nothing like a little consonance to make the world go 'round.
