  1. English is such a funny language. The first one on my 13 list says, "I like that when I’m in the thrift shop I can find everything from a cap to a cape to capris."

  5. Ive always wondered about brougham and sough, had to look them up to see just how they were pronounced. "lough" was a surprise, (loch) which suggests that many--if not all-- of these were of old English or Celtic origin.

    I do not envy people from other countries trying to sight read our words. 'sound it out" just doesnt cut it, sometimes.
