how I love the language

on a spray can of spot remover: "Permanently removes stains".   The implication, of course, is that some stains will just creep back when you're not looking, unless you use this product. Forever.

on two different strengths of pain reliever, same brand:  "Maximum dosage:  Do not take more than two in a 24 hour period..."

  1. I usta see stuff like this all the time. It was driving me nuts. Over time, I hav e deveped the skill I call "Seeing-not-seeing."
    Saved my sanitation.

  2. I likes seeing it, it's fun to see the way manufacturers screw up labels, and the silly things companies put ON those labels to convince us to buy stuff.

And how willing we are to obey them. Years ago a product called Fantastic was on the market, billed as a household cleaner, for walls and woodwork, it said, and for kitchens. Some years later I found a new version, heavily promoted, for the bathroom. We were now being allowed to use this stuff in Another Place.

The mind of the human is a curious structure.
